Mission Blue Butterfly Outfit by Mink-the-Satyr Mission Blue Butterfly Outfit by Mink-the-Satyr
At last! I have purchased a proper mannequin for displaying my dresses and outfits!

This outfit was worn at the 40th Pennsic War. The skirt has eight panels of alternating beige and blue with inserted brown cotton panels with blue handkerchief hem. The skirt is not entirely a circle skirt, but has a sizeable bottom circumference and really looks good when in motion.

The shirt is the same heavy blue cotton as featured in the skirt. It is a loose fitting top that cinches just under the bust with elastic. The "half sleeves" also gather with elastic. The shirt has a hand-embroidered scroll work at the collar. It was improvised, so don't fault me for it's... homeliness.

The overbodice features colors found throughout the design and laces in three places for an adjustable fit: the front and the sides (close to the back). Tassels in the back are for decoration and a show-piece for a sexy back.

I'm very proud of this outfit, as it is one of few outfits that perfectly and exactly matched the initial sketch I had drawn out for the Mission Blue Butterfly.

I love the colors you used. *^* I would love to actually see somebody wearing this. xD
What is this kind of clothing called? I'm trying to find pictures of clothing like this one, but I'm not quite sure what it's called.. would appreciate any help. ^^;

Thank you for such a nice comment!  I wish I had better pictures of me wearing it, but sadly, I only have this one: mink-the-satyr.deviantart.com/…
(it's not a very good picture).

This style of clothing is kinda somewhere between Renaissance clothing and fantasy... and belly-dance.  I would call it "Renaissance Faire clothing".  Usually renaissance faires is where rules get to break a little more than in rigid historical reenactment...

You are so pretty, especially in this dress. O-O No, I'm serious. xD I wish I was pretty like you, but ehh I'm an Asian that'll never happen. :D

Renaissance Faire clothing... gotcha. 8D Thank you for the info, now I think I know how to look for em. I've never been to Renaissance Faire before, but I get the idea of "a little more fantasy than actual history" thing. xD I actually like it more that way, it seems more fun. :3

It's actually a lot easier than it would seem. I may endeavor to make a tutorial and post it one of these days...
